The Messner Mountain Museum Corones is situated at 2,275 metres altitude on the summit of Plan de Corones/Kronplatz. The history of traditional alpinism is told here and all with a unique view over the Dolomites and the Alps. You can see beyond the national borders in all four directions: as far as the Dolomites in Lienz in the east, the Ortles/Ortler in the west, the Marmolada/Marmolata in the south and the Zillertal Alps in the north.

It has been possible to visit the San Ignazio/St. Ignaz gallery in the show mine in Predoi/Prettau since 1996. A little train takes visitors inside the mine. Here you can experience up close how miners extracted copper in the past and transported it up to the surface. By the way, the climatic galleries situated here in the mine are ideal for asthmatics, allergy sufferers and hay fever patients.

Tip for you holiday in Val Pusteria/Pustertal: The mine is only open in summer. We do not recommend that people with a fear of confined spaces visit the copper mine.
